Going Green Expo 2010 is happening from 30 April to 2 May at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. It promises to showcase all the easy ways that everyone, businesses included, can go green and reduce their environmental footprint. All the latest green products, technologies, ideas and environmental solutions – that don’t cost the earth – will be on show.
Based on the founding green ethos: “Think Globally, Act Locally!” the event is a mix of education based free seminar streams in an easy to understand “How To” and case study “How We Did It” format; together with a showcase of products and solutions. The free seminars list is impressive, encompassing (but by no means limited to) such topics as:
The seminars are free and occur throughout each day on the centre stage.
As if the seminars were not enough to encourage you to check out the Expo, there is also an amazing array of green offers and over $10,000 in prizes to be had for those who attend. Prizes on offer include a free electric bicycle, an office recycling solution, a solar hot water system, a fit-PC2, “the world’s most sustainable computer” and a slimline 3100 litre water tank. Not to mention a remarkable the range of expo green offers and giveaways.
There are over 150 environmental solution displays to explore from energy solutions, baby products, building products, transport alternatives, office products, fair trade products, and carbon offset & trading programs. Meanwhile the Going Green Expo itself will again lead by example in terms of reducing the impact of exhibitions and events on the environment. They have introduced the following elements to reduce their footprint:
·minimisation of energy consumption and use of 100% “greenpower”;
·the option for exhibitors to use energy efficient lighting, reusable components and signage and “greenpower”;
·best practice waste reduction & recycling programme for the show.
But let’s not forget, the point of the expo is to help demonstrate that you can do relatively simple and cost effective – even cost saving – environmentally responsible things at home and in your business. Sustainable commerce and living makes environmental and economic good sense. Making small changes will have huge, collective environmental impact across Australia and around the globe. In fact “Going Green” is becoming easier than ever before and with all the information and technology available the time for real change and action is now - “Think Globally Act Locally!”
