colorfull kiteThe “green” advertising wave is on and a large number of companies blitz the airwaves with concern for a clean planet. But how many of these companies are living up to their promises... In the marketing industry finally there are examples of 360 degree green companies.

Following these green campaigns, billboards are now replacing trees, and companies claim to be carbon offset by planting new trees which will take 10 years to reach their optimum age. But what about the impact of their daily activities? For example advertising agencies are still using cars, truck and scooters for mobile advertising to target the market, but are they being accountable for the carbon emission during those 2-6 hour rides for their campaign?

Graeme Pearman, the former chief of atmospheric research at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, Australia's national science agency said “Greenhouse gas emissions must be cut by more than 60 percent over the next 50 years to prevent excessive warming”. Companies may be promoting eco-friendly products, but are their ways to target the audience being eco-friendly?

In the marketing industry finally there are examples of 360 degree green companies. These people care enough for the environment, and express it through their advertising mediums. Bikes, which are carbon emission free, are used to move advertising around town and kites harness the power of the wind, to create the impact of a billboard in the sky to target the audience.

We can all prevent harming our environment and can keep our world green and beautiful; we just need to work harder at it, and try to act in all our action in an eco friendly way, not just limiting it to a part of the day!
