We live in a globalized world, and I am probably one of its most confusing products. My parents are both Eurasian from different countries and I guess that makes me a fruit salad. Added to that, I grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia. I think it gives me a good perspective on things and a greater scope on life.
I complete my Bachelor of Arts; Media and Culture at Macquarie University in July 2010 and the only reason I chose it is because it is all about writing and never about mathematics. My passion for writing dates back to when I was a kid, since before the invention of the internet, which is now so impossible to live without. Back then, I remember making my own books out of A4 paper, staples and colored pens.
As far as the environment is concerned, living in a developing country has shown me the stark difference in pollution levels between places; for example, between Sydney and Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. However, it’s understandable as the majority of Indonesians are living in poverty, so environmental concerns take a backseat to the problem of feeding one’s kids. The most notable difference is the air; Australia, you have very clean air, and it’s the first thing I notice when I step out of Sydney’s airport. I can only hope for the same environmental concern and effort back home. Keep up the good work!
