Before moving across the ditch to sunny Australia, I had spent all my life in the land of the long white cloud – Aotearoa. That’s New Zealand for those who are unfamiliar with the Maori name. I have graduated with my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Employment Relations and Psychology from the University of Auckland. Currently living in the heart of Sydney and finding it very different compared to the relative quiet and laidback suburbia of Auckland.
Due to my upbringing with an obsessive recycler as a father (who grew his own vegetables and kept chickens in the backyard), recycling is second nature to me. Do you know of the girl who would put back her glass bottle or aluminium can back into her backpack to take home to recycle if there were no recycling facilities nearby? That was me. It caused much amusement amongst friends.
Whilst I am not aligned to any environmental groups I quietly go about my day trying to lessen my family’s environmental impact on this earth. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, sewing, gardening and catching up with friends over food (maybe with a glass of wine or two).
