Carbon credit is a permit that allows the holder (i.e. country, corporation, etc.) to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide which is equivalent to the size of a swimming pool of 25 meters long, 10 meters large and 2 meters deep.
Carbon credits are tradeable and can be purchased and sold between participating organizations on national and international exchange-traded markets. This system was approved with the Kyoto Protocol.
