The Eco Xpo is set to showcase a great range of products and services from organic, natural and sustainable brands. Each company at the Eco Xpo is a proud owner or user of an organic, natural and/or sustainable brand.
Green Times asked James a few questions about the Eco Xpo, his role as the ambassador and just how green he is.
What does being the ambassador for the Eco Xpo mean to you?
It's fantastic that collectively we're all making more of an effort to reduce our footprint on the environment. There's lots of information out there about how we can play our part and the Eco Xpo brings it all together. It's like a one-stop-shop for anyone wanting to know more about living an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
What do you think people can get out of attending the Eco Xpo?
The Eco Xpo will be home to many exhibitors showcasing products and information that help people live more sustainable lifestyles. There are some really exciting innovations out there in the eco area and the Eco Xpo is a great way to learn more about them by talking to the people at the coal-face. But carbon neutral of course!
What part of the Xpo do you particularly recommend and why?
The best part of the Xpo in my view is that you are surrounded by experts and you can ask anyone a question, and everyone is there to share.
How are you green in your life?
I try to make little differences every day. I recycle. I avoid using heating during winter – a jumper, pair of trackies and some Ugg boots go a long way. For short trips from home I ride my pushy. It’s about thinking twice before you take the convenient option.
What is your number one eco tip to our readers? And why?
I think the best tip I can offer is to get a stainless steel drinking bottle and fill it up with tap water. The modern day phenomenon of buying plastic bottles of water has led to so much extra pollution and there’s studies suggesting that it might not be the healthiest way to have a drink of water. It is such a simple change to make.
About the significance of being green
I have had the privilege of travelling around to some of the most beautiful places on earth and right here in Australia, and feel an enormous obligation to protect and safeguard our natural wonders. It is important to keep in mind that the little differences we make as individuals collectively go a long way.
One of the expo’s top goals is to show how we can live well without hurting the environment, and make it simpler for all to choose the eco option. The Eco Xpo represents a fun day out for the whole family as well as a great opportunity to explore the green industry and learn more about eco products and services from electronics, home and building, transportation and travel to health and beauty, fashion, energy, conservation and recycling.
The Eco Xpo will be taking place 6-8 May 2011 from 10am to 4pm at Byron Kennedy Hall Entertainment Quarter Moore Park, Sydney.
