No more plastic bags

Around 4 billion plastic bags are used every year in Australia. But just a small effort by each of us could make this figure drop and mean a reduction in pollution and the need for recycling!

  1. Refuse ALL plastic bags whereever possible - carry your own reusable bags
  2. Reuse plastic bags (if you do find yourself with them)
  3. Use biodegradable shopping bags
  4. Take your used plastic bags to recycling facilities (but use them more than once first please!!)
Plastic contains chemicals that can absorbed by humans and damage our health. It’s also the most contaminating debris in the ocean and is causing the death of hundreds of thousands (100,000+) mammals and over one million sea birds every year.

For more information on the effect of plastics in our oceans see our article: Midway to... Disposable Hell?
