22 April 2010 – Earth Day, Worldwide
Earth Day was launched in 1970 in the US where more than 20 million people came together to protest against environmental destruction and try to change history. 40 years later, our planet is more than ever feeling the impact of human activity, and promoting a more sustainable environment is now vital.
According to the Earth Day Network:
“The Earth Day 2010 campaign aims to combat climate change by driving substantive behavioral change and channel quantifiable action on behalf of the environment.”
“Earth Day Network was founded on the premise that all people, regardless of race, gender, income, or geography, have a moral right to a healthy, sustainable environment.”
The Earth Day Network has a global reach of over 20,000 partners and organizations in 190 countries around the world.
Earth Day Network’s programs and activities are guided by the following goals:

-Inspire and engage college students to become environmental leaders

25 April 2010 – Earth Day Event Griffith University Greens Club, Brisbane
Griffith University Greens Club organized a bush walk and a bring your own foor and drinks bbq to celebrate Earth Day. The meeting is at 10am at Griffith University Nathan Campus in Brisbane, Queensland.
24 April 2010 – Reuse-a-palooza, Sydney
Reverse Garbage organized the REUSE-a-palooza event for Earth Day this year. The event will take place at the Reverse Garbage facility and will include:
- Opening of a survey of the work of a REUSE artist - Launch of a new range of upcycled REUSE furniture - Welcoming a great REUSE art project and closing another show
27 April 2010 – Turtle Talk, Canberra
Upper Murrumbidgee Waterwatch organized this informative talk about local turtle rehabilitation to show people how to help a turtle cross the road and what to do for those injured. The event will run from 7pm to 9pm
22 April 2010 – Bridge to boat ramp revegetation project, Corowa
This event organized by the Corowa Council aims to clean up and restore works along the bank of the Corowa Lagoon, alongside the Murray River. On Earth Day, 120 children from local schoolds will work with the Nestle “green team” on revegetation and replanting.
