2 March 2010 – GreenUps, Sydney

 

This month ‘s GreenUps will be at the Object Gallery in Surry Hills, where a new exhibition about sustainable design is currently taking place.

GreenUps is free! So come have a drink and share your views and experience!

 

Due to the limited capacity of the Gallery space, you must confirm your attendance. RSVP on Event Brite.

GreenUps is happening every first Tuesday of the month, so if you cant make this one, make sure you don’t miss the next!

6 March 2010 – Gear Up Girl Challenge, Sydney

 

 

As part of International Women’s Day (8 March), the Gear Up Girl Challenge is NSW fun and safe recreational bike ride for women, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for women. This is the 3rd year this event is running and it is expecting over 1,000 women cyclists to join in.

The event offers 2 options to suit all levels.

 

1) 15km loop around the scenic cycle-ways at Sydney Olympic Park - 8:30am start

2) 55km route using cycle-ways alongside Cronulla Beach, Cooks River and crossing the finish line at Sydney Olympic Park - 7:30am start

 

Note that the event will also raise funds for the Oncology Children’s Foundation. And Gear Up Girl will also take place soon in Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide.

7 March - Free E-Waste Recycling Collection, Sydney

 

 

E-waste or electronic waste is a serious concern as it is growing faster than household waste and contain hazardous components that can cause serious environmental and human damage when sent to landfill.

So if you have an old tv, mobile phone, computer screen or hairdryer you no longer want or need, recycle it!

The City of Sydney offers quarterly e-waste recycling day to its resident, where you can recycle any of the following for free:

All computer parts, Televisions, Monitors, Desktops, Laptops, Printers, Photocopiers, Servers, Electronic components, Network equipment, Scanners, Fax machines, Microwaves, Vacuum cleaners, Hairdryers, Lead acid batteries, Mobile phones, Landline phones, Switching gear, Projectors, Floppy disks and CD drives, Cordless tools (e.g. drills), Electronic games, Joysticks, CDs and DVDs and tapes, Cameras, DVD players, Video recorders, and Speakers.

When: From 9am to 3pm

Where: Bay Street Depot, Ultimo

2, 5 and 7 March 2010, Clean Up Day, Australia wide

 


All around Australia this week, people, schools and businesses are coming together to pick up rubbish and help clean their local environment.

2 March = Business Clean Up Day

5 March = Schools Clean Up Day

7 March = Clean Up Australia Day

 

If you havent yet, get a group of people together and register a site to Clean Up!
