22 March 2010 – World Water Day, Worldwide

Clean Water for a Healthy World is the message shared by World Water Day (WWD) this year.

Every year, 1,500 cubic kilometres of wastewater are produced globally and although wastewater can be reused, it usually is not. WWD website states that “80% of all waste is being discharged untreated, because of lack of regulations and resources.”

Water is our number one most valuable resource. Human and environmental health depends on water. To help make a difference, you can organize your own event for World Water Day! Check out the events organized around the world and register your own event at http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/events.html

23 March 2010 – World Meteorological Day, Worldwide

The world of meteorology including weather patterns, climate change, ocean activities and natural hazards is a fascinating one.

Each year, on 23 March, World Meteorological Day commemorates the creation of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as a specialized agency of the UN. The WMO was created 60 years ago and for that reason this year’s theme for World Meteorological Day is “60 years of service for your safety and well-being”.

To discover and explore the world of meteorology check the World Meteorological Organisation Website.
